Mangaluru will Host the All India Konkani Literature Conference Beginning November 4th
Honoring Sahitya Akademi awardees and the 25th All India Konkani Literature Conference with an anticipated 1000 attendees in Mangaluru.on Nov 02, 2023
The winners of the Sahitya Akademi awards will be honoured.
The 25th All India Konkani Literature Conference will be held on November 4 and 5 at the Vishwa Konkani Kendra in Mangaluru by the All India Konkani Parishad.
Speaking to the media, Konkani activist Chetan Acharya stated that while preparations for the conference are nearing completion, approximately 1000 people are expected for this literary conference.
He stated that the Mangaluru committee members had made proper arrangements for their lodging and meals.
According to Acharya, Indian writer Hema Naik has been elected as the conference's president.
Renowned Mangaluru entrepreneur Michael D'Souza has been elected head of the conference's welcoming committee, poet and critic Henry Mendonsa is working president of the conference, and poet Titus Noronha is a secretary of the same.
Literary seminars and literary presentations will be held over the course of the two-day conference. The following talks are included in these events: Seminar 1: The Konkani Literary Movement and Ways to Improve. Seminar 2 - Children's Literature and Young Writers' Literature
Seminar 3 focuses on the current state and future direction of Konkani theatre.
Seminar 4 focuses on the role of magazines and social media in the development of Konkani literature.
"This year, we held both a poet's conference and a literary presentation." The event will feature 30 writers in all. Along with poems, you will hear prose, hilarious writing, and short stories.
Udayan Vajpayee, a famous Hindi writer and critic, will open the conference. Dr. Mamta Sagar, a Bangalore-based writer, will also be present for the closing ceremony.
On the first day, at 5 p.m., both the speakers and Kannada writer Purushottam Bilimale will discuss the issues that modern writers face.
At the inaugural ceremony, Sahitya Akademi award winners in several literary genres will be honoured, including Jyoti Kunkalkar, Fr Myron Barreto, Maya Kharangte, Tukaram Shet, Manikrao Gawanekar, and Dr Tanvi Kamat Bambolkar. Similarly, Dr Kasturi Mohan Pai, Dr Shivram Kamat, and Ron Rose Cancia will be honoured during the closing ceremony for their contributions to Konkani.
